linksys e2500 Reviews

I bought the Linksys E2500 (N600) dual-band wireless-N router a week back. And this is what I want to say about it after I used it for one week.

Firstly, Linksys E2500 is the true budget-friendly Wi-Fi router. There are quite a few promising routers available in the market, and after a long, tiring research I finalized this one as the winner depending on the price and the features CISCO provides. Another best part is that the device is a handsome looking as well as very easy to use. Even the novice or home users can handle this router with no issues (at least my family had none). However, one drawback is that the range of this router is not too far. Therefore, this is a good choice only in case of small spaces like an apartment. But if you want something with a robust network, then you also have to increase your budget.

Design &Use of the Cisco Linksys e2500

The router is made to stay flat on the surface and not for the wall-mount purpose. Hence, the device is flatter like an UFO-shaped design with internal antennas. In the back, it has 4 LAN ports and 1 WAN port. These are traditional 10/100 Ethernet ports. This router does not come with any indicator status lights, thus in the front, it has nothing at all.

The Linksys E2500 does not come with any manual but a Cisco Connect Software CD. You just need to pop in the disk and rest is taken care of. It will take around 5 minutes for the entire process to complete. Once it is done, you are ready to use the Wi-Fi router.

One of the most important features of Linksys E2500 is that it lets you work on the two concurrent networks of 2.4GHz and 5 GHz. In addition, it can also provide a third network for guest on the 2.4GHz band all at the same time. The guest network is the best option when you want to share the Internet but don’t want them to access your local resources. The guest network on the E2500 can allow up to 10 connections at a time. This number is definitely limited but more than enough for home purposes.

The Linksys E2500 supports WEP, WPA-Enterprise, WPA-Personal and all other wireless encryption standards. The only feature that is missing from this router is the USB cable attachment.

Performance

When it comes to performance, the Linksys E2500 is not that impressive as the routers of the higher ends. The 5GHz band worked fine, but the 2.4GHz band performance was not up to the mark. Moreover, its range is very small, therefore it is not a device that you can use at large places. However, it is a good option at home or dorms.

Service & Support

You get a one-year warranty with the Linksys E2500. The customer service of Cisco is available 24/7 on its toll-free number and on online chat. In addition, you can find all the drivers, software and firmware downloads on the company’s website.
