The TP-Link TL-WR902AC is an average router with good speed. Of course, it is not the fastest router. The maximum bandwidth of the TP-Link WR902AC is 750 Mbps. We have personally tested the router and found that the actual speed is close to 680 Mbps. So, there is a difference of 90 Mbps between the theoretical and practical bandwidth.

Primarily, this is because of the 300 Mbps throughput on the radio frequency band of the 2.4 GHz channel. Also, this might be due to 433 Mbps throughput on the radio frequency band of the 5 GHz channel. No matter if you connect this router to the LTE modem or cable modem, you will get adequate Wi-Fi speeds.

The TP-Link TL-WR902AC support both channels as well as the range is quite good. The device is compact and powerful. You can use it in the home and travel. We have also tested the device at 15 feet close range and measured speed of 23 Mbps, which was faster enough.

Further, we increased the range to 100 feet and measured a drop of 9 Mbps. We think this is a bit slow. However, we were amazed that the router was able to cover a range of 100 feet. It can even offer more than 100 feet of coverage area. However, to maintain a good Wi-Fi speed, we recommend you to use it within 30-75 feet, which is a good range for a hotel room.

Design

The TP-Link TL-WR902AC travel router is stylish and features a modern look. It has rounded corners and the overall look of the device is the shiny plastic. Although the design of the router is simple, clean, and compact, it does not skimp on important details. There are a few indicators LED lights on the front of the router, which shows exactly what is going on under the hood.

For instance, from left to right, there is a power indicator, wireless activity indicator, UBS connectivity indicator, internet connection indicator, and a security indicator.

The backside of the device is simple and here, you will see a WAN and LAN ports. These ports are Gigabit model, which is found in most of the modern routers. Also, you will see a full-size USB port, which is used to connect external drives.

There is also a micro-USB port on the right side, which serves to power the router. The dimensions of the router are 2.91 x 2.64 x 0.87 inches and the weight of this router is 0.615 pounds.

Hardware

When it comes to the hardware specifications of the TP-Link TL-WR902AC, the device is powered by the MediaTek MT7628AN single-core CPU with clocked at 580 MHz. The total memory of the device is 64 MB and the Flash memory is 8 MB.

The switch of the device is RT3050 and the WLAN 2.4 GHz has b/g/n and the WLAN 5 GHz has a/n/ac and the WLAN driver is MT76. The antennas are hidden and located inside the device.

Installation

The processes of setting up the TP-Link Ac750 is easy and simple. First, you need to switch to the operation mode. Once done, you can share the ETH and then connect the hardware. Plug the 3G or 4G USB modem with SIM or UIM card into the 3G or 4G USB ports. This depends on your requirements.

The next step is to connect the device wirelessly to the router. The Wi-Fi network username and password are mentioned on the label of the router. Next, you need to check the internet whether or not if it is accessible. The next step is to launch a web browser and type http://tplinkwifi.net. Next, log in using the username and password.
