Description

In general, the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q is currently the best gaming monitor. It is a 27-inch 1440p monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate (overclockable to 165Hz). The size is perfect and the slim bezels are great. The stand is fantastic and has a lot of range of movement. It’s all smooth and well supported; even if my desk shakes the monitor and stand seem perfectly still without any wobble.

The OSD is phenomenal. There’s a joystick behind the panel that can be used to navigate the display settings which is AWESOME. Another important feature of OSD is that it can display its own frame count, so you don’t have to rely on third-party programs to display FPS. G-sync works exactly the same way as advertising. No matter how many frames the GPU emits, it doesn’t tear at all. Playing super intense games like “Witcher 3” in a super environment, sometimes I see the number of frames in the GTX1070 drop to the 40s, but I almost never noticed G-Sync.

However, if you are an AMD user, you will not benefit from G-Sync, but you should consider using a FreeSync monitor.

  • Adaptive Sync: FreeSync

Description

By far the best game display in the budget category we have tested is ViewSonic XG2402. This 24-inch display provides an excellent gaming experience, excellent action processing, extremely low input delay and fast refresh rate. Even if you connect to the latest NVIDIA graphics card via DisplayPort, it supports FreeSync variable refresh rate technology.

On the other hand, the display can be very bright and has excellent reflection processing power, so there should be no problem using it in a bright room. The display also has a good ergonomic design, so you can easily place it in the ideal location, or even turn it vertically for multi-display settings.

Unfortunately, this is not the most versatile display because of its limited contrast, disappointing viewing angle, and 1080p resolution may be too limited for some users. Despite these shortcomings, it is an excellent low-cost game display (for more options, see our advice on the best budget game display).

Because of its high refresh rate and very low input lag, it has incredible responsiveness and the ability to flicker backlight to clear motion. It supports FreeSync,FreeSync to allow refresh rates to be adjusted according to the game, but the image quality is below average, and the edge of the screen loses accuracy due to narrow viewing angles.

It makes things easier by providing you with a large number of visual presets, the “S Switch” control boxes for managing these presets, and even a pair of adjustable screens. If you are a professional or die-hard player, this is one of the best game monitors.

6.MSI Optix MPG341CQR

MSI Optix MPG341CQR
  • Curved gaming display (1800R) – the best gameplay immersion
  • Brightness (Typ) is 300cd/㎡
  • Mystic light – the ultimate gaming finish
The Good
  • Innovative design and wide gamer feature set.
  • Decent color results.
  • Very low input lag.

  • Really strong overall feature set
Not So Good

  • Built-in webcam is nifty but works only for facial recognition feature.
  • This class of monitor is expensive

Technical Details

  • Display: 34-inch (3440 x 1440 )
  • Panel Type: VA
  • Aspect Ratio: 21:9
  • Response Time: 1ms
  • Refresh Rate: 144 Hz
  • Weight: 21.16 pounds
  • Adaptive Sync: FreeSync

Description

While all the extra decorations make MSI Optix MPG341CQR a more attractive choice for potential buyers, it has done a great job of standing out. Using VA instead of IPS panel technology is a welcome advantage, providing brighter colors and better contrast. In addition, its ultra-wide 1440p resolution and 144Hz refresh will certainly give gamers an advantage. Perhaps the best part is that the display is reasonably priced, making it one of the best game displays to consider in 2021.

The only drawback of the display is that the white and gray screens are slightly uneven. The left shadow of the monitor is warmer and the right shadow is colder. I don’t notice it in all games, but if you browse the web or work on multimedia, you’ll probably notice it.

Conclusion

There’s a lot to digest, which is surprising given that display technology has been one of the slowest aspects of PC gaming hardware for years. But there are many different options available now, some of which depend entirely on the graphics card you were running on the device at the time.

For our money, the ASUS PG279Q is still the best game monitor at the moment, although some excellent options use exactly the same panel. The Acer Predator XB271HU, now sells for just £499 in the UK, but it can be said to make it a better option.

At a lower level, you can actually buy some amazing non-TN panels for less than $200 / £200, providing excellent 1080p visual effects for your game PC.

However, as always, spending money on monitors is a worthwhile investment, and it may last longer than your current PC and graphics card, so consider planning for the next platform.
